Josef Seibel was founded in 1886 in Hauenstein, Germany, by the brothers Carl August and Anton Seibel and started his shoemaking with a sole punching machine. The company is now family-run in its fifth generation. The current managing directors are the fifth-generation successor, Franziska Seibel, and her husband Michael Fischer. The brand remains an independent family business and has never been acquired by an international group.
